This is a simple script to help you create custom train tracks.
Requirements:
ScriptHookV (https://de.gta5-mods.com/tools/script-hook-v)
Installation:
Make sure ScriptHookV is installed.
Copy the "TrackRecorder.asi" and "TrackRecorder.ini" into your GTA V main directory.
Usage:
Walk (it is important that you actually are on foot when recording the tracks otherwise the z coords might be of) where you want to start the train track. Press the "J" (the key set in the ini file) to add the players current coordinates to the track file as train node. Then walk to the next point you want to add as node an press "J" again. Repeat this for all the nodes. You don't have to do this in one go. The script just appends a new node to the file everytime you press "J". So you can close the game and continue your work at a later point. When you are done and close or minimize the game you will se a "trainsXYZ.dat" file in your main GTA V diectory. Open this file in a program like Notepad++. Look how many lines the files has. Create a new line at the begining of the file and add the number of lines there. e.g. your file has 54 nodes in it you write 54 in the first line like this:
54
-818.4609 177.3405 70.91507 0
-819.3862 177.3305 70.72857 0
...
After that save the file and you have successfully created a train track.
If you want you can import this file in CodeWalker to add stations or correct the position of nodes.
Config:
In the TrackRecorder.ini you can change the key to another one. For example if you have another mod installed that already uses "J" to do something.

@kd3533 what's the trains.dat max Size limit?
@MadaraUchiha1996 I don't know to be honest. I once had about 2600 nodes in a file I did for the Liberty City Metro. But I don't know what the limit would be.
@MadaraUchiha1996 I just looked in OpenIV and the largest track in the game is actually 4226 nodes large with a 116 KB large file. Hope that helps.
@kd3533 I actually found it out myself, it's 144 KB with 5313 nodes. If you put more nodes than this, the game will crash on loading, you will get an Memory error..
Hey man, I'd just like to say first off great mod! but I have one thing to say: could It be possible to make this but with cars? this could be cool and people could create scripted car chases and races ect ect.
@Isaac 6710 Thanks for the rating. Yes that is definitely something I want to do in the future.
@kd3533 Awesome man!
@kd3533 You can add more vehicles to that please? will help alot to epic video montages : ) NPC too
@kd3533 There is a little Issue. When I press J sometimes it saves the coordinate double or triple in the TRAINXYZ.dat file, which makes the file size bigger
dont work :)
@kd3533 please do one for car nodes
love your work this this great tool
i created a path for the metro train i followe all instructions but still the train is not loading on that path ...according to description the player should walk ..sprinting will also make the path faulty???
@kd3533 ok the path is working but i have to replace the original train path files to get them work addon Rail method is not working..
very good! Very good script! I want to create a new railway, which is undoubtedly solved!
SIR I M ON LATEST VERSION OF GTA V (1.57)... THE SCRIPT IS NOT WORKING...ON THIS VERSION...
@devdd960 I tested it with the newest GTA version on patch 1.57, and it works without a problem. Do you have ScriptHook? Or do you mean the addon train script?
@kd3533 Can you make it with a normal car or any vehicle? I mean like Rockstar does in a cutscene where vehicles go excatly where they need to not like with Menyoo or Scene Director where the go off the road often and these things. I would be so happy if you could so this
should I count the blank line at the bottom of the file? I don't think I should.
trains just make a B-line for the normal in-game tracks after going around the track once.
Think your mod is broke. I have the scripthook and native trainer installed via the link you provided and they work, but the recorder doesn't.
