This is my first handling based on a new power scale, from now on my handling mods will have power set according to the vehicles wheel HP as opposed to it's crank HP, this means more accurate and realistic power and speed levels for each vehicle especially when comparing automatic and manual transmissions.
This handling provides realistic power, top speed, gear ratios, center of gravity and engine sound for Ziev's 70 Challenger add on.
Three engines are available to choose from 340, 440 and 426 Hemi and each have a choice of 3 speed auto or 4 speed manual. The drag version only has one engine option (Hemi) but both transmissions are available.
The 4 speed drag handling should wheelie on vanilla or modded materials.dat but for some reason the 3 speed automatic will only wheelie properly with my surface traction overhaul mod. For best results you must rev up the 4 speed to wheelie but you should not rev up the automatic to wheelie.
The wheelie bars may or may not clip through the ground on launch depending on what materials.dat you have.
340 V8
325HP
120+MPH
Best handling, decent power and acceleration.
440 V8
400 HP
140+MPH
Good/fair handling, obviously more powerful than the 340 but handling suffers slightly from engine weight.
426Hemi V8
500+ HP
150+MPH
Handling is fair, the large Hemi V8 provides the best power and acceleration at the cost of handling due to engine weight.
The new for 1970 Doge Challenger was an intermediate sized car slightly larger than the "compact" economical Dart and slightly smaller than the mid-sized Charger. As the name would imply, Dodges "Challenger" was designed and intended to compete for sales in the "pony car" market against similarly styled vehicles such as the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro. Potent performance options available in the R/T and T/A packages would ensure that Dodges Challenger would be a top contender.
The T/A package offered the perfect balance of handling and power with it's lightweight small block 340 V8, HD suspension and lightweight fiberglass hood with functional scoop. This package was developed for use in the SCCA Trans Am racing series hence the name T/A.
The R/T or Road and Track package offered a steel hood with dual functional air scoops, a choice of three different big block V8's including the 6.3L 383, the 7.2L 440 and the 7.0L 426 Hemi as well as HD suspension to counter-act the weight of the large cast iron big block V8 engines.
Both the T/A and the R/T packages came with a unique "Pistol Grip" shifter handle that looks and feels identical to the grip of a large revolver and also came with a highly useful "Rallye Instrument Cluster" including a large in dash tachometer, oil pressure gauge, coolant temp gauge and battery voltage gauge to help the driver monitor the engine under sever driving conditions.
The 1970 Dodge Challenger achieved eternal star status as the protagonists vehicle in the world renowned action-chase movie Vanishing Point released in 1971 just barely one year after the cars official release.
Hype for the car caused by this movie drove sales for the Challenger through the roof and prompted Chrysler executives to leave the Challengers body and appearance largely untouched for the next three years despite the fact that performance would steadily degrade each year with the gradual introduction of emissions equipment taking a most notable drop in the 72 model year with the complete elimination of all big block engine options.
Inverse power by IKT is a must have mod if you are sick of the game letting off the gas for you in the middle of a slide.
