Birds No More - What? Why?
More pedestrians and traffic mod by Lupin is great
but it unintentionally spawns more birds as they
count as peds in the game and alot of birds
depending on which traffic preset you choose.
I got fed up with the sky being covered with an
army of birds everywhere so with OpenIV I
seeked to get rid of them myself so that I can
enjoy Lupins mod without the birds ruining it.
Really it's just a simple popcycle.dat edit that
anyone could do in Notepad++ I know, but none
the less I'm sharing it for those that might want it
or incase it comes in handy for other mods that
unintentionally increase the bird spawn counts.
Cheers.
Please make sure you have the latest 7zip
or WinRAR installed to extract successfully.
Install:
ⓘ Make a backup first of your popcycle.dat!
Use OpenIV and insert/replace popcycle.dat
to update.rpf > common > data > levels > gta5
Birds_No_More_00 :
All bird related variables set at 00.
You will not see any more birds spawning
around you everywhere you go anymore.
Birds_No_More_01 'Minimal' :
All bird related variables set at 01.
Note this doesn't mean just 1 bird but rather
you might see 1 - 10 birds around you.
What else?:
If you already have a modified popcycle.dat,
You can do this yourself In Notepad++.
Open popcycle.dat and search for birds.
For example you will find
"Birds_Countryside 20",
changing 20 to 00 or 01.
for desired effect.
Repeat the desired value for all entries
containing birds.
This can be a tedious task to do manually.
TinyTask may be able to help you in automation.
Things to know / Issues:
- Bird ambient sounds will still play regardless
if there are birds or not.
This isn't something I know how to fix
nor am bothered by.
- Ambient seagulls sitting on the rocks at the
beaches remain.
(but fly off when scared by the player).
- Nothing else I know of.
Let me know if you get any issues with this mod.

@whitehot1 Sure, without Lupins mod and this my mod you will have the normal amount of birds in game course. The thing with Lupins mod and increasing ped count is birds also count as peds in the game therefor no matter which preset of his you choose the birds will also increase. (Example: 2x traffic 2x peds = 2x the birds), That's where my mod comes in and fixes that with the minimal preset of 01 and with the 2x peds on average I see 1 - 10 birds, with the 4x peds preset 15 birds in a wide area which is what I would call on par to default of birds I can see in a default game without Lupins mod. For people using the very high presets like 8x peds or maximum and with 01 there might still be too many birds spawning and that's where one can just use the 00 file, Another way is having some bird values on 00 and only a few on 01 but this will be time consuming to do manually but in the end might be what you're looking for.
It's down to experimenting really, does that help or was I off what you were asking exactly?

Hi, thank you Marcus! I can definitely live with less peds in general... You see, what's happening is that I've been getting slightly low a framerate on my laptop... So I'm using 'SANERS - Lite Traffic + More Peds + Best Physics' mod, and the 'Less Traffic' part of it has its actually helped my framerate. But, there are way too many birds for my liking. And too many peds in general, for that matter. So I've decided, I'd simply like 'the normal' amount of peds... But, I don't have a clue what exactly to edit?
The problem with Tiny Task is...well...you never exactly told us how we're supposed to use it to help us automate the replacing.
great mod but im having issues just downloading the bird mod got the error code 0x80004005 when i try to unrar all other files up to this point had no issues really wierd. so i have to settle for the 2x 2x ped and vehicles
@isitizet I've submitted a new .zip in effort to fix the extracting issues some may have. Tested using the latest version of WinRAR and 7-Zip and also used the in-built Test features of both programs to verify there's no errors.

of course i know how to use openIV, but if use this tool and modify update.rpf or common.rpf something it make game crash.......
i clicked edit mod and replace or add file to RPF and rebuild but it make crash .......;;;

Sure thing, use More pedestrians and traffic mod by Lupin but not install this mod to achieve more birds like the first screenshot shows, this mod is for those that want to counter the effect of more birds unintetionally added by More pedestrians and traffic mod by Lupin.

im using a modded popcycle and doing the manual edit now; so do i need to account for that 10-20% of birds amongst the other peds? will it just not spawn that 10-20% of peds? curious how popcycle.dat works if everything doesnt add up to 100%... so long as it doesnt crash because of it I don't know how I would tell.
Still haven't explained to us how to use TinyTask to do all the work replacing things for us.

@Zaiketsu @dgsion guys, its really easy to automate the process using Notepad ++.
there is a replace option. youre going to have to replace each Birds_Countryside (number here). just do it for every number. there should be like 5-6 different numbers. press replace all each time. and done. sorry if that was a shit explanation, let me know.
i think this is a bad made temporary solution for a problem u guys should focus on fix the mod of pedestrians itself, make it mark the birds different somehow
